About

For generations, South Carolina Baptist churches have recognized the need to cooperate (Rom 15:14-32; 1 Cor 16:1-4; 2 Cor 8:1-9:15) in order to fulfill Christ’s mandate in the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20) as ministers of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18) locally and around the world. Baptist churches of like faith and practice have come together, associating with one another to form local ministry partnerships known as Baptist Associations. Faithfulness to the gospel has compelled member churches to accomplish together through local (associational) partnerships what no single church could do alone.

Baptist Associations have been instrumental in fostering Christian education, planting new churches, coordinating local missions and evangelism, and making Christ known to the world. The Three Rivers Baptist Association, created through a joining of the North Greenville and Greer Baptist Associations in 2013, exists to accomplish this important work. Indeed, one of South Carolina’s great Baptist universities (North Greenville University) was started by the churches in this Association. The TRBA has remained faithful to its historical purpose, transformed itself for ministry effectiveness, and promoted cooperative missions.

In times of certainty and uncertainty, unity and gospel fidelity have prevailed in the churches which make up the Three Rivers Association. Throughout its history, the churches of the Association have faced many changes in their surrounding communities. The histories of our partner churches provide evidence that Baptist churches have looked to their Associations as ministry partners providing a confident source for preserving doctrinal unity, fellowship among churches, and promoting cooperative evangelism/missions.
